為加強對婦女身心發展與生活適應的關心，並能破除杜會上既存的不良影響，特提出過去較少被重視，但對婦女非常重要的女性更年期研究，國內外的一些文獻，藉此回顧，去釐清過去大家對更年期的定義，以及歷史上的演變，同時也整理出目前幾個學科(包括臨床醫學、社會學、心理學、人類學等)在不同領域上對更年期研究上的努力，並針對相關研究，提出其方法上的一些問題，可為未來研究設計的參考。期盼並邀請研究學者能秉持關心婦女身心健康的目標，在對更年期這議題上有更多本土研究的開展。

An Overview of the Past and the Future of Female Climacteric

Abstract ｜
This paper, reviews past indigenous and Western literatures, presents various angles of an issue that is usually neglected: female climacteric. The intent is to increase women’s psychosomatic development and their ability to adapt to the process as well as breaking the negative influences from the society. The paper clarifies the definition of climacteric in addition to present historical envolvement. Furthermore, recent efforts of medical professionals, sociologists, psychologists, and anthropologists are noted. Problems encountered during researches and relevant findings of those studies make good suggestions for future studies. Finally, the authors invite more researchers to support and to contribute to the betterment of women, including more indigenous researches on climacteric.
